427977 F/O RAAF Maurice was in the army and rose through the ranks, then transferred to the air force. He was involved in the raid on a Hitlers hideout in Berchtesgaden, one of the most famous raids after the dam busters to kill Hitler but he was not there. It is due to this military grave that The cemetery remains open. The church in the grounds was removed, and the cemetery was closed to further burials, until Maurices military grave was discovered, and further burials were allowed. --- CAVANAGH: A Requiem Mass for the repose of the soul of the late Maurice Andrew Cavanagh, of Triangle Flat, Rockley, will be celebrated in SS.
