District News. BEGA. (From the Southern Standard.) OBITUARY.— We have to record the death of Mr. James Rixon, of the Commercial Hotel, on the morning of 12th September at ten o'clock, after a long and painful illness. Mr. Rixon was a native of the colony, and was one of the pioneers of this large district, being, we believe, the first man who brought a bullock-dray down from Monaro to Eden. Prior to his settling at Bega, he built and kept for many years the Crown and Anchor Hotel, Eden. Mr. Rixon leaves a wife, large family of children, and grandchildren to deplore their loss.
