OBITUARY - Cootamundra Herald 17/10/1987: One of Cootamundra's most senior citizens, Mrs Selena Rebecca Hale of Bradman Street, died on Wednesday last, at the ageof 94 years. Known as Lena, Mrs Hale was born in Tumut on January 22, 1893, daughter of the late John and Sarah Buckley. She was reared in theTumut district and attended Lacmalac Public School. In 1912 she came to Cootamundra, and lived the rest of her life in the district. In 1924, she married George Walter Freer at Cootamundra and they had a family of five: Thelma (Mrs McNair, Cootamundra), Claude (Goulburn), William (Blacktown), Dorothy (Mrs Hill, Cootamundra) and Victor, who predeceased his mother. After the death of her husband George in 1930, she married Alfred Hale, and their daughter Betty (Mrs Elvins) lives in Mt. Colah. Mr Hale predeceased his wife in 1943. ... etc
