Evelyn is also spelled Eveline, Evelyne in other registers. EMILY EVELYN CAPUANO was the sixth child and second daughter born to Maria (Black) and Antonio William Capuano of Creswick. She was a twin to George Antonio Capuano and they were the first twins born in the Capuano families. Emily was sent to live with her aunt, Jane Tank and her family at a very early age due to the deteriorating health of her mother Maria. After her mother died in 1907 Emily never returned to her parent's home. Emily carried out general home duties prior to her marriage, as there were not many other avenues of employment available to women of her era. On the 18th November 1916 at the Town Hall in Creswick, Emily at the age of 20 years, was married to Fred Bowley, the son of Sarah Sophia (Chalkley) and Alfred John Bowley. Fred Bowley was employed as a Typograph Operator (possibly with the Creswick Advertiser Newspaper). They settled in Creswick and had one child, a daughter Evelyn Joy.
