Castle Hill General Cemetery comprises denominational monumental portions and lawn sections, with tombs, crypts vaults and a columbarium. Inscriptions extant suggest that it came into general use around 1911, although two earlier inscriptions are to be found. Monuments are generally in good order for age, with most inscriptions legible. The site is maintained in excellent condition by The Hills Shire Council.
The images have been contributed by Michael Brookhouse, who photographed the cemetery and all its accessible legible inscriptions between May and July 2011. In compiling the list of inscriptions for this cemetery, reference was made to the NSW indices of births, deaths and marriages and to the Australian War Memorial online military rolls for additional information. (We have attempted to translate certain non-English inscriptions and apologise for any errors. Please let us know if you see any.)
