Ross Old Burial Ground is located on a gentle slope south-east of town. Its beginnings are uncertain but, of the inscriptions still legible, the earliest date found was 1834. Few of the original monuments now remain and most have deteriorated with the passage of time as to be difficult or impossible to decipher.
Joe Sharman visited the site in October 2011 and made digital images of all visible inscriptions. His images may be downloaded from the list of inscriptions for this cemetery. The list was compiled with reference to the Tasmanian Pioneer index of births, deaths and marriages for additional information. We are grateful to Roma Waldron who compiled the list of inscriptions.
