Windellama Roberts Family Private
Roberts Family Private Cemetery near Windellama was photographed by Ken Lucas in 2006. Ken says, "When Robert Roberts died in 1871 he was buried on his farm property then known as "Bronti", but now generally known and shown as "Bronte". In October 1898 this portion was declared a cemetery by Certificate of Title, passing to family members who have had it maintained and been buried there to the present day. It is now listed and classified by the National Trust as a place of Historical Importance."
Ken's pictures reveal monuments dating from 1871, all in excellent condition for age and clearly legible. He has also included details of three graves that are unmarked. Also on the site is a memorial wall on which are mounted plaques commemorating various members of the Roberts family who may be buried elsewhere. The grounds are mown and well maintained.
Ken's images may be downloaded from the list of inscriptions for this cemetery. That list was compiled by Ken from his images, family history records and with reference to the NSW indices of births, deaths and marriages and to the Australian War Memorial online military rolls for additional information.
