Elsey Cemetery Road,
Elsey Station was the place to which Aeneas Gunn brought his bride, Jeannie, when he was appointed as its manager in 1902. The events at Elsey were recorded by Mrs Gunn in her classic biographic novel "We of the Never Never". The small cemetery at Elsey Station contains the graves and memorials of several persons who featured in the book as well as a number of others who died on or near Elsey. Inscriptions date from 1898 when a traveller by the name of Hughes died and was buried at Old Elsey.
Sonya Organ visited Elsey Cemetery in July 2010 and has contributed her photographic record of the visit. Sonya's pictures may be downloaded from the list of inscriptions for this cemetery.
From Mataranka, head south for 11.8km and turn left onto Elsey Cemetery Road, from where it is approximately 10km to the cemetery.
