Cloncurry General Cemetery appears to have supplanted the nearby early cemetery late in the 19th century. The earliest inscription extant here is dated 1889. The site was evidently set out originally in denominational portions or sections that include, in the north-western corner, an Afghan cemetery that contains only two graves.

Joe Sharman visited the site in July 2010 and made a digital image of every visible inscription. The headstones are generally legible, although we were unable to decipher several inscriptions. A significant number of monuments has fallen and some are broken, possibly due to periodic flooding and spasmodic vandalism. The internal roadway is unpaved and there are no amenities. The grounds were in tidy condition.

The list of inscriptions for this cemetery has been compiled from Joe's images and with reference to the Queensland indices of births, deaths and marriages and to the Australian War Memorial online military rolls for additional information.

Cloncurry Cemetery is on the northern side of town on the route to Cloncurry Aerodrome. The entrance is in Sir Hudson Fysh Drive, north of Alice Street. Lat -20.698855 Long 140.505136
