Tambar Springs

The Tambar Springs Cemetery, Spring St., was used by pioneer families in the area prior to it`s dedication by the Crown Lands Act 18th January 1884 ( Trove: NSW Gov. Gazette, 8 Feb 1893 ( no 13, page 107), from 2 headstone dates in the cemetery, which I saw with my own eyes in 1976 & on Family search as Isolated graves at end of Spring St. The Department of Lands, Sydney, then proposed the resumption of the Spring St Cemetery on the 8 January 1892, with the view that the land be made available for conditional Purchase, setting aside land for another General Tambar Springs Cemetery in O`Rourke Street, the first burial there is in 1901, the previously paid for burials were at the Spring St., Cemetery. I have the death certificate of my ancestor, Charlotte Stockdale who was buried at the Spring St., Cem. 18 June 1896, with Obituary from Trove. The Historical Parish Map for 1888 of Tambar Springs, near the intersection of Spring & Quarry Sts., on the eastern side of Spring, shows 7 grave markers, just south of portion 109. Headstone mentioned previously of Christina Meek died 22 Jan. 1876, aged 16 & Ann Sharpe died 8 Dec 1883, aged 45.
