704 The Horsley Drive
The cemetery at St James Anglican Church, Smithfield, was originally located on the block next to the church. At some time, that area was sold for redevelopment and the headstones moved and remounted on a concrete slab at the rear of the church. However, two monuments that marked graves within the present church perimeter remain in their original position.
Ruth King visited the memorial and made digital images of all visible inscriptions during 2009. Ruth's images may be downloaded from the list of inscriptions for this cemetery. The list was compiled from her images and with reference to the NSW indices of births, deaths and marriages for additional information.
St James' Church and Cemetery is approximately 3km from Fairfield via the Horsley Drive and is one block beyond the Cumberland Highway.
St James' Church is within and administered by the Anglican Diocese of Sydney. It is not known whether the burial records of St James' cemetery, to the extent that they may exist, have been microfilmed but, if they have been, would be available for viewing at the State Library of NSW and the Society of Australian Genealogists in Sydney.
