Tweed Heads Lawn, General and Memorial Gardens
176 Kirkwood Rd
Tweed Heads South
The Tweed Heads Lawn and General Cemetery superseded the old general cemetery within the city area and appears to have come into use around 1968. It is principally a lawn cemetery but also includes monumental sections for General, Anglican, Baptist, Catholic, Methodist and Presbyterian denominations. There are also several baby lawn and general sections.
The cemetery is well laid out with each section marked and a site plan within the grounds means that locating any section is a simple matter. The internal access roadway is sealed, there are plenty of shade trees and some seating is also provided. The grounds are in good order and well maintained by the Tweed Shire Council.
Peter Arthur made a digital image of and listed every visible inscription during visits between August and November 2008. In compiling the list, Peter has referred to the NSW and Queensland indices of births, deaths and marriages and to the Australian War Memorial online military rolls for additional information.
Tweed Heads South Cemetery is administered by the Tweed Shire Council. For further information, contact Council at PO Box 816, Murwillumbah NSW 2484; phone: 02 6670 2400; email: email@example.com
