The original list of inscriptions at Bundarra General Cemetery was kindly contributed by Beverle MacLeod. It was based upon a transcription of the cemetery compiled in 1954 by Catherine Keogh and Errol J. Lea-Scarlett. It was of particular interest because it presented a snapshot of the cemetery taken over 50 years ago.
More recently, Caroline Foster has contributed her list of inscriptions she compiled several years ago and her list has been merged with the one described above. It is apparent that, in the interim, several of the earlier markers have disappeared.
Caroline has also contributed several images she has taken in the cemetery and these have been supplemented with further images from Leo Cahill, Barbara Cox, Christine Yeats, Glennys Gow, Earl and Julie Hughes and Rewa Bate. It is hoped that we will be able to photograph the entire cemetery in the not too distant future.
The list of inscriptions for this cemetery has been processed with reference to the NSW indices of births, deaths and marriages and to the Australian War Memorial online military rolls for further information and improved identification of those whose inscriptions were recorded all those years ago.
From Bundarra's main street (Bendemeer), head north towards Inverell. After crossing the river, turn left into Dawkins Street from where it is 1.3km to the cemetery.
