Anna Bay Lawn
Nelson Bay Road,
The Anna Bay Lawn Cemetery comprises eight denominational and non-denominational sections. In the centre of the site there is a gazebo that shelters columbarium walls constructed from bricks. The cemetery has been in use since the early 1960s. Most of the monuments in the lawn sections are of low set recumbent desk type. They are all free standing - a system that involves considerable work in lawn cutting and trimming. Nevertheless, the grounds are maintained in excellent condition by the Port Stephens Council.
Robert Tozer visited the cemetery in August 2002 and made digital images of all the inscriptions. The list of inscriptions has been compiled from those images by Roma Waldron. In completing the list, the NSW indexes of births, deaths and marriages and the online nominal rolls for both world wars have been consulted for additional information. The assistance of Janette Downey in this research is gratefully acknowledged.
Anna Bay Lawn Cemetery is administered by Port Stephens Council, which provides information and a cemetery map on its website (see below). Contact Council at PO Box 42, Raymond Terrace NSW 2324; phone: 4980 0255; email: firstname.lastname@example.org
