The Rum Jungle Lake Reserve, located near the township of Batchelor, is a recreation area that lies on the footprint of the rehabilitated Rum Jungle Creek South uranium mine. Uranium ore was mined at the site from 1961–63. The site was rehabilitated in 1990–91 to reduce potential hazards from residual mining wastes and to repair damage from erosion that had occurred over the years since the cessation of mining.
This area is a popular location with swimming in the lake and a good spot for a picnic.
There are four memorial plaques.
Photographed and transcribed by Jeanice Levez in mid 2014.
