Mungana was a small town established in northern Queensland at the turn of the 20th century that was centred around copper mining and smelting operations. Mungana Cemetery contains only a handful of marked graves with evidence of several others that are now unidentified.

Peter Patterson-Kane visited and photographed the site and its inscriptions in October 2011. He said that the cemetery is fully fenced but overgrown. His pictures may be downloaded from the list of inscriptions for this cemetery. That list was compiled with reference to the Queensland indices of births, deaths and marriages for additional information.

Head north from Chillagoe for 17km, turn right at Mungana (National Park Sign) for approx 1km to the Aboriginal Rock Art Site, then left for approx 400m to the cemetery. Lat -17.087471, Long 144.388568
