Bylong Anglican
The cemetery is on the site where, in 1874, the first Christian service in Bylong was conducted. Its memorials commemorate burials dating from 1881 to the present day. When we visited, the grounds were recently mown so access to all the graves was easy, but burrs on the ground were a problem. The cemetery is fenced to exclude stock. There are no facilities.
Jean and I made digital images and notes of every visible inscription on 5 June 2002. In compiling this list, we also referred for further information to the NSW indexes of births, deaths and marriages and to the death and funeral announcements and obituaries published by the Mudgee Guardian and Gulgong Advertiser.
Bylong is a village about 79km north-east of Mudgee and 53km north of Rylstone. From Mudgee, it is accessed via the Cassilis Road to Putta Bucca and the Wollar Road. The Anglican Cemetery is situated in the grounds of St Stephen's Anglican Church, in the centre of the village.
The Church and its cemetery are administered by the Bathurst Diocese of the Anglican Church of Australia. The Diocesan office is at 3 Church Street, Bathurst NSW 2795 (email: anglican@ix.net.au).
