Tambar Springs Cemetery contains inscriptions dating from 1901. It is divided into at least three denominational portions that include Anglican and Catholic sections, but there are no portion or row markers. A small columbarium providing about 100 niches has recently been erected but as yet contains no ashes. Almost without exception, the stones are standing straight, generally without lichen and are perfectly legible. We saw no evidence of vandalism.

The cemetery was in excellent condition when we visited. The grass was mown and trimmed around all of the graves and the grounds appear to be regularly watered. It obviously benefits from some local tender loving care and is a tribute to whoever looks after it.

We visited the cemetery on Anzac Day 2007 and made digital images and took notes of every visible inscription.

Tambar Springs is a village 29km south of Mullaley on the road to Coolah. O'Rourke Street runs off the main road at the northern end of the village, from where it is 1.1km to the cemetery.

Tambar Springs Cemetery is administered by the Gunnedah Shire Council. Contact Council at PO Box 63, Gunnedah NSW 2380; phone 02 6740 2100; email council@infogunnedah.com.au
