Lake Macquarie Memorial Park (Ryhope) is one of two in the Lake Macquarie and Hunter , the other being Newcastle Memorial Park & Columbarium (Beresfield) .
The grounds comprise of an array of Columbarium Walls, ash gardens and lawn graves. The grounds are bordering the Watagans National Park and are picturesque with beautiful landscaping and native plants. There are many large ponds which have water features and fountains and these attract a vast array of birds and wildlife from the nearby mountains. There is also a small memorial garden for ash internments featuring stillborn and infants. Along with a veterans memorial . There is also a natural burial ground at the rear of the chapel and main building for those wanting a different eco internment. The park is located right near the intersection with the M1 Motorway and is a short drive to the township of Toronto and Lake Macquarie.
If driving north from Sydney leave the M1 motorway at the Palmers Rd exit ramp northbound then proceed east along Cessnock Rd. If driving southbound on the M1, leave the motorway at the Toronto exit ramp, then proceed east along a short distance on Cessnock Rd to the gates of the park. There are a number of car parks within the complex.
