Cardwell Cemetery

Address: Gregory Street, Cardwell 4849 QLD

Cardwell Cemetery contains a relatively small proportion of older monuments dating from 1865 and a larger proportion of lawn graves. As yet, there is no columbarium on the site. The grounds are unfenced but maintained in excellent condition by Cassowary Coast Regional Council. The inscriptions are generally in good condition and legible and survived cyclone Yasi that devastated this area in 2011.

Peter and Karen Patterson-Kane visited the cemetery in October 2011 and made digital images and a list of all visible inscriptions. In compiling the list of all inscriptions for this cemetery, reference was made to the Queensland online indices of births, deaths and marriages and to the Australian War Memorial online military rolls for additional information.
