Ayr General Cemetery
Address: Bruce Highway, Ayr QLD
THIS IS A WORK IN PROGRESS. Images and inscriptions are being uploaded as they become available and are listed, checked and researched.
Ayr General Cemetery comprises a monumental section, a lawn cemetery and columbaria. There is also a number of vaults on the site. The cemetery is maintained in good condition by Burdekin Shire Council.
Saskia Vollema-Creek has contributed her images which she made in late 2009. She intends to complete the project in due course. Saskia's images may be downloaded from the list of inscriptions for this cemetery. That list was compiled from the images and with reference to the Queensland indices of births, deaths and marriages and to the Australian War Memorial's online military rolls for additional information.
Burdekin Shire Council provides an online register for both of the cemeteries it administers (at Ayr and Home Hill) that provides much additional and useful information for researchers - see URL below.
