Geurie General Cemetery
Address: Off Mitchell Highway, Geurie 2831 NSW
The site, largely surrounded by native pine trees, is divided into denominational portions but they are not identified in any way. There is also a small columbarium wall for ashes. The cemetery is a little more than 100 years old; the earliest memorial found was dated 1891. The grounds are fenced to exclude livestock and fauna, and the whole is in generally good condition without obvious evidence of vandalism. There are no amenities.
This list was compiled from digital images that Jean and I made of every visible inscription and from notes taken on site on 4 February 2003 and subsequently updated. In compiling the list, we also referred to the NSW indexes of births, deaths and marriages to help determine some difficult to read names and dates and for further information. Images of the inscriptions may be viewed and downloaded from the list of all inscriptions for this cemetery.
