Cnr Eton & Alice Streets,
The Mitchell General Cemetery is divided into Protestant and Catholic portions with rows well marked. It does not yet include a lawn section or columbarium.
John Arthur visited the cemetery in May 2007 and photographed every visible inscription. He says that the grounds were very neat and tidy and there was little evidence of vandalism. He understands that considerable work had been completed on the site under the prisoner release scheme.
John's images may be downloaded from the list of inscriptions for this cemetery. The list was compiled with reference to the Queensland BDM online facility and the Australian War Memorial nominal rolls for additional information.
From Mitchell's CBD, drive north on Alice Street. The cemetery is 1.2km from the Warrego Highway intersection.
Mitchell Cemetery is administered by the Roma Regional Council. For further information, contact Council at 1 Cartwright Street (PO Box 123), Roma QLD 4455; phone 07 4622 1144; email: council@roma.qld.gov.au
