Anakie Cemetery
Address: off Capricorn Highway, Anakie 4702 QLD
The list of inscriptions at Anakie Cemetery was compiled by Christine Frater, who visited the cemetery in 2000. At present, there are no images of the inscriptions available. (If anyone would like to volunteer to take the images, please contact Reg McDonell via the link below.)
Christine writes: "Anakie is one of several small townships in the Central Queensland Gemfields, positioned at the 'crossroads' along the Capricorn Highway, about 40km west of Emerald. It may be small in size but is a big piece of the Gemfields puzzle. One of its original buildings, the Anakie Hotel, is noted for the fortunes won and lost there. The Anakie Cemetery was closed but reopened in 1977 for the burial of Bob Pacey and then remained open."
