Nelson Bay Cemetery

Address: Stockton Street, Nelson Bay 2315 NSW     Inscriptions for Nelson Bay Cemetery

The Nelson Bay Cemetery adjoins the Carumbah Lawn Cemetery and comprises three portions - Anglican, Roman Catholic and non-denominational. It has been closed to new burials for some years except in those cases where reservations still exist.

We found inscriptions dating from 1897 on mostly marble and granite monuments. The grounds are maintained in excellent order by the Port Stephens Council.

Robert Tozer visited and photographed the cemetery inscriptions in May 2000 and the list of inscriptions has been compiled from those images by Roma Waldron. In compiling the list, reference was made to the NSW indexes of births, deaths and marriages and to the nominal rolls for both world wars for further information. Thew images may be viewed and downloaded from the list of all inscriptions for this cemetery.
